Kick off Meeting: UNDERTREES

On January 28th and 29th, 2020, the LandLab, Institute of Life Sciences of Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, as Project Coordinator, welcomes a delegation of advisors, authorities and researchers from EU end non-EU countries to kick-off the H2020 MSCA-RISE project UNDERTREES. The overarching objective of UNDERTREES is to form an international and inter-sectoral network of 15 organizations in 3 continents (Europe, Africa and South America) working on a joint research program that has the ambition of improving knowledge about the functioning of agroforestry systems in the context of global changes and their potential delivery of ecosystem services through a new holistic methodological framework, inspired to principles of agroecology. Under the EU Research and Innovation Framework Program Horizon 2020, the RISE scheme of Marie Skłodowska-Curie's Actions, which funds UNDERTREES project (EUR 1.228.200,00 agreement no: 872384), promotes international and cross-sector collaboration through exchanging research and innovation staff. 

According to the principles of the MSCA-RISE program, UNDERTREES offers an unique opportunity to researchers to develop their careers by experiencing the meaning of agroforestry and agroecology, overall, under different environmental, cultural and socio-economic contexts as well as for sharing knowledge and ideas from research to market and vice-versa.The kick-off meeting takes place at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna under the auspices of the Institute of Life Sciences of Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies Director, Luca Sebastiani and the "two-day work" is coordinated by Giorgio Ragaglini, Simona Bosco, Alberto Mantino, Paolo Barbèri and the administrative staff of the Institute of Life Sciences of Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, to close the set-up for project implementation.
